I recently spent about ten days here and this facility was amazing. The food was really good. The staff, therapists and doctors restored my faith in doctors as I had horrible doctors for seven years at the VA and Cleveland Clinic. They truly care and listen and help here. The patients I was with were also very kind and helpful. I made some great friends in my short stay here. I felt very comfortable and actually opened up and spoke things to people and doctors that I was never comfortable telling anyone else, even my blood family. I had about 7 staff members go above and beyond to help me and I submitted their names for recognition. Overall was a very positive experience and I recommend to anyone. Thank you so much highland springs staff. You possibly saved my life.

This institution quite literally saved my life by all accounts. I was admitted in January of this year for a severe addiction to benzodiazepines. This is the only institution where I felt that the medical staff were truly knowledgeable about the true extent of benzodiazepine withdrawal syndrome. I had been experimenting with research chemicals such as etizolam, diclazepam, and clonazolam. Given my background in biochemistry, biomedical engineering, and pharmaceuticals etc. I had knowledge of the existence of these drugs. These drugs had once been in r&d by pharmaceutical companies but were ultimately abandoned due to their potency and incredibly long half-lifes. In other words, the risks outweighed the benefits. So, I was in some serious trouble before my admission. I was using substances that neither the medical nor scientific community had conducted much research on, which is evident by the scarcity of the literature available. The possibility of me having a generalized tonic-clonic seizure was highly likely and I knew it. My life was hanging in the balance. I was given a phenobarbital taper which practically eliminated any severe withdrawal symptoms. Dr. Rowney who is the medical director of the institution, was also my psychiatrist, I owe my life to that great man. It is my wish and desire to see more people of his character and nature enter the field of psychiatry which is awash with out of touch, unsociable human beings, to put it very lightly. For anyone considering whether or not to reach out, I offer you my assurance that this place is phenomenal. And I hope that you find recovery or at least rest from your present problems.

I recently had a stay at Highland Springs, in Highland Hills, Ohio. The staff was, encouraging, courteous, responsive, and instructive, for the very most part, and it is a like new, facility. The staff there helped me to understand that we are not alone in our struggle, and that others, as well as ourselves, are best served by strengthening our day to day living, by becoming as self supportive, sufficient, and individual, as is healthy for us. They also see the creative aspect of life, specifically in music and art classes, and when one is awake to the hopefulness of a new future, the lessons bring can bring one great opportunity. I have started volunteering, to work with people having similar struggles as mine, and hope I can be of a help, and learn to help my self, and through me help others along the way. Mike

I went to Highland Springs at a period in my life that i was literally trying to find a reason to continue living. With the tremendous staff and Dr.Rowney's help and guidance I am alive today. Nurse Veronica is an Earth Angel. She is the kindest nurse I have ever encountered. Highland Springs Staff treat you like people not a mental disease.

The treatment team at Highland Springs are truly miracle workers. I couldn't thank them enough for the immense help they gave me during my stay there. Each staff member helped me in their own special way. I went in suffering from a severs case of psychosis ; and left able to function normally again. Better than normal actually . The doctors and staff members have genuinely big hearts and helped me in their own individual ways. My road to recovery and better health and wellness is because of the wonderful people that work a Highland Springs . I would more than recommend Highland Springs to anyone who suffers from mental health issues or addiction.I owe my recovery and opulent mental health status t ok them. I couldn't thank them enough.

Five Stars. Great place. I came in as in-patient and graduated to the Post-Hospitalization program. If you literally just do what they ask you to do, the people here can make a world of a difference. They dragged me out of the gutter, explained my diagnoses, got me on the right path and continued to push me throughout PHP. The staff caters to the needs of each individual. They care and work extremely hard. Can't say enough about the care you will receive here as long as you GO IN WITH AN OPEN MIND. Highly recommend.

This facility was life changing for me! Yes, you will need to do your part, but your life is definitely worth fighting for. The therapists and staff really do care about your well-being and want the best for you. They teach you so many things that you will use throughout your life. The group setting helps you to know you are not alone and the varied activities were all very helpful. This is a place I will never forget. It really made an impact on my life. Thank you to all the great staff that I came into contact with!

Highland springs was life-changing for me! I have been in and out of institutions my whole life and traveled a long way to get to Highland Springs I was referred by two people who said that it change their life! I came in shaking like a leaf because I was so scared. But the staff and everyone there interacted and helped to ease my fears. Everyone was so happy to be there and happy to help in anyway they can. The doctors and staff genuinely care for their patients. They take the time with you to talk about anything at anytime. They even try to get to know you on a personal level. I learned so much from all the groups I attended. I’ve never had the opportunity in all the places I’ve been to actually learn about my condition and how to cope. But in Highland Springs I got to do just that. I am so glad I made the decision to go to Highland Springs! If I need services again I will most definitely be returning!!!

Highland Springs is the gold standard in psychiatric care. As far as I am concerned there is Highland Springs and everybody else when it comes to proper care. The staff are caring, engaged and empathetic. Furthermore, they go above and beyond the call of duty everyday of the week. As someone who has had 10 in patient stays, at 6 different institutions, I wouldn't go anywhere else. If you want to get better go to Highland Springs!

Staff is excellent. But don't go back or you'll be called a frequent flyer. This is what the female doctor called this patient. The day after discharge she overdosed.

This place is great. The staff treats you with respect and they are all super helpful. They treated me great while i was detoxing and helped manage my pain as well as they could. The place is clean and tidy. The food is pretty darn good too. I would reccomend this facillity to anyone who needs help for sure! Big shoutout to maya and dr.rowney for all your help. And if your lucky Kat will be your nurse! Thanks for saving my life highland springs!

Staff is excellent. However they turned away a suicidal patient which was horrible. Never dreamed that could happen. Left without much dignity or support was a dangerous situation. Also intake lady said there were no more insurance days, only to find out there were a lot of days left. This could leave the hospital liable if anything were to happen. I know the friends want to go to the news station. I know this is an excellent place , but I don't no how something like this can happen.

The staff is extremely helpful and excellent professionals. The facility is top of the line and it is in perfect condition, clean and well organized. The program teaches important copying mechanism tools that help a lot in the recovery. I am very satisfy with the medical attention that I received while I was there. I truly recommend this place to any person dealing with mental health issues.

While intake took a little longer than expected, I was absolutely amazed by how attentive and caring the staff was. I was there for one week and it was a blessing. I've been to 5 different psych inpatient wards and Highland Springs is by far the cleanest, most professional.

I was admitted here December of 2016. It was clean and the staff was helpful though sometimes i felt like I was a bother to some of them. I am still struggling with suicidal thoughts and I wish I had made the most out of my experience. The food was great and there was plenty of support. I was in a hurry to leave because my baby was without me. If I could go back in time I would take my time and maybe stay a bit longer and participate more in group sessions, they really help with getting your feelings out. overall when I left I was reenergized and wanted to live again.

My overall experience was good. I'm thankful that I stayed for the 5 days I was there. The staff was amazing; kind, helpful and mostly upbeat. I heard a few people say the programs needed to be more directed towards addiction, just thought I'd throw that out there. Thank you once again..

I work in intake and the communication has been very thorough. I will continue to send patients because of this. The patients seem to be pleased with the service too. Cherie also does an excellent job and we enjoy her.

Mrs. Cherie Jenkins is always pleasant and smiling. there are not many times I ask people their name, but when I met her I needed to know. Keep up the good work Cherie.

I took my mom here after a long battle of trying to get her help and this place was a game changer for her. I went to the assessment with her and the specialist was so attentive to my mom and what she really needed. I couldn't be more thankful that they helped her when I couldn't ! I'd easily recommend to anyone that truly needs help.

I was treated in the out patient program and the experience was great, no complaints. The only thing that I have a problem with is they over charged my account by $300. They tried stealing $300 and are giving my family a hard time when it comes to giving us back our money. I have been out since the end of April and still no money and they won't give an explanation why.

I went in to the Partial Hospitalization Program at Highland Springs after experiencing an initial episode of psychosis. I found the staff increasingly understanding, helpful, and dedicated to supporting my treatment and found the other patients extremely welcoming and supportive.

I was admitted last March (2016) a week before Easter. I've been to two other hospitals and Highland by far was the best one I went to. The other two hospitals over medicated me to the point where I didn't know where I was, couldn't remember anything, and always wanting to sleep. This facility was very new, updated, and comfortable. The staff was absolutely fantastic. I had nothing but positive interactions with every single nurse and assistants. I even ended up having a massive panic attack and they handled it perfectly. I went into my room, while my roommate went out into the common room. The nurse and assistant were extremely helpful in calming me down. There was one assistant, unfortunately I don't remember her name as it was over a year ago, that was amazing. I felt like she related to me very well and she was so caring. The only thing I didn't like, which wasn't Highland's problem, was the fact that I got to the hospital at around 3 in the morning. The ER didn't find a facility with an open bed until around 1:30 in the morning. When I got into the hospital, they made sure I was comfortable and sleeping within 20 minutes. I'd gone in and out of mental hospitals a few times, and I can't say that any of them helped me as much as Highland did. Ever since I was discharged, I haven't cut (which was a pretty common occurance for me). It's been over a year and I'll always remember how positive my experience was. Thank you guys so much for helping me gain control of my severe bipolar disorder/borderline personality disorder. I couldn't be more thankful! If you're thinking about sending a loved one to a psychiatric hospital, this is a great facility for them to recover!

This place is fantastic and the best thing that's happened to me in a while. They're polite and courteous and allow adequate time with family and free time to watch YouTube or Netflix or spend time doing some self help. The staff is always available to help and talk and set up appointments with your therapist. Would recommend to anyone.

I was a patient at Highland Springs for two weeks back in late summer of this year, and I also participated in the PHP program following my discharge. On the whole, my experience at Highland Springs was very positive and I'm glad that I received treatment there. My only concerns are as follows: when I was admitted after spending the previous day/night in an ER, I was led into a admitting room and asked what I wanted to eat for breakfast. I was then left in that room for quite a while, only seeing someone when they returned with my meal tray. For someone with a high level of anxiety, to be left alone in a new place can be very frightening. I would have appreciated it if someone had explained the admission process to me prior to just being left in the admission room. My second concern is that it was primarily left up to me to find a psychologist and psychiatrist for after care once I was done with the PHP program. Prior to being admitted to Highland Springs, I had been seeing a psychologist and a psychiatrist, but I was unsatisfied with those services and I wanted assistance in finding new ones. My PHP therapist helped by giving me some names of people to call - that's the issue, I was the one who was supposed to call. I eventually ended up going back to the organization I had been with previously, only with a different psychologist and psychiatrist. I understand that the point of the IPU and the PHP program is to help the patient get back on their feet and back on stable ground. However, it is very difficult sometimes to get an answer from anyone in the medical field - mental health or otherwise - and I had assumed that I would be receiving more help in setting up my aftercare. Highland Springs was a blessing to me and my parents, and I greatly thank the staff there for everything they did for me. I would and will recommend Highland Springs to anyone who either needs the assistance I received, or has a loved one who needs the assistance.

As a patient here, I can honestly say this is the best treatment program in the area. The staff and doctors genuinely cared for me and my well-being. In four days I went from a total mess to an optimistic individual. I felt better leaving there than I've felt in years! Highly recommend it for anxiety and depression!
